For over 30 years, Charlotte Pelletterie, a company based in Lake Garda, has been passionate about quality leather and, thanks to its commitment to sustainability and Made in Italy, has grown both in size and business. The history of the Manerba sul Garda company (Marchetti srl) is steeped in a passion rooted in the distant 1980s, when Luca Marchetti, its founder , a sales representative for a South Tyrolean company, decided to take over a client's shop in Malcesine and fully immerse himself in the world of leather production and purchasing.
The story
At a young age, he married Danish woman Charlotte, and, combining love with love, he decided to give her name to the brand he was launching. It was a winning choice: the name Charlotte is popular, and especially popular with tourists from Northern Europe , particularly numerous on the Brescia and Verona shores of Lake Garda.
The 90s arrived and Luca involved his brother Paolo in the business, who supported him in growing the sales outlets: today Charlotte Pelletteria includes 12 single-brand stores direct and 6 other affiliates, distributed mainly in the most touristic areas of Garda.
The company follows the entire cycle, from the selection of leathers to product design and sales and distribution, participating in the main trade fairs, from Mipel and Micam in Milan to Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags in Riva del Garda. production is entrusted to a company from the Marche region which works exclusively for the brand, and the Manerba headquarters hosts design, research & development and logistics, with an eye for sustainability.
Welfare
In recent years, the company has made this theme, as well as people's well-being, the beating heart of its development model. In Manerba, several new systems have been installed: photovoltaic systems and charging stations for electric cars , thus reducing environmental impact and promoting more conscious mobility. At the same time, the company has introduced a corporate welfare contract for all permanent employees (about fifty people), activating a partnership with UniSalute supplementary health coverage . "The company," explains Luca Marchetti, "has made Italian quality and environmental sustainability its strength. Leather, natural materials from food waste, are a greener choice and responsible with respect to plastic, and close a virtuous production cycle". Marchetti is among the founding members of the Cer Millesoli by Benaco Energie .
Over the past five years, the company has seen significant business growth, with 20% of sales coming from export markets. Charlotte Pelletteria remains a family business: Luca's three daughters, Michela, Veronica, and Daniela, are currently involved in the company's management. They share the vision of a small, local business built on the belief that "every bag is not just a product, but an image of quality, sustainability, and human value."
